  • Teaching Methods and Assessment

    Our teachers are professionally qualified, enthusiastic and very helpful. They provide interactive classes which encourage participation and promote self-confidence. The teachers use a variety of modern teaching methods including classroom delivery, lectures, tutorials, discussion groups, computer assisted learning, portable electronic devices and online materials to deliver courses.

    CIT has modern facilities for teaching and learning which include classrooms, lecture theatres, libraries, 24 hour computer laboratories, study centres, flexible learning centres and individual tutorial assistance, as well as friendly informal conversation groups.

    Students will be assessed using both formal and informal methods. These include observation of role-plays and pair work, interviews, presentations, practical exercises, portfolios of written work, written tests, reports and observation of group and class work. Assessment tasks will be contextualised and realistic.

  • Pathways to Further Study
    • Successful completion of English for Study and Life (Upper Intermediate) is recognised as the equivalent of IELTS 5.5.
    • Successful completion of English for Study and Life (Advanced) is recognised as the equivalent of IELTS 6.0.
    • Successful completion of English for Study and Life (Academic) is recognised as the equivalent of IELTS 6.5
