This qualification provides you with the skills, knowledge and practical experience to move in to a sport development career. Career opportunities include roles in sports coaching, athlete development and sports projects/administration.

Industry Placement

Gain the skills and confidence to be ready for employment with over 70 hours of unpaid work experience as part of the diploma’s compulsory industry placement. CIT staff will help you coordinate your placement with our industry partners throughout Canberra. With the guidance of your teacher, you will coordinate your own activities within the placement.

    Academic requirements:

    • Year 12 Certificate or equivalent

    Students over the age of 20 may be eligible for adult entry. Please refer to Entry Requirements for more information.

    English requirements:

    Before undertaking any practical work experience involving vulnerable people, applicants will be required to undertake a police check.

  • Pathways to Further Study

    Because CIT offers nationally recognised qualifications accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA), students can apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to most universities within Australia and receive credit towards a degree, even where formal credit transfer arrangements are not in place; however, this is not a guarantee.
