MulticulturalCIT offers an exciting and diverse multicultural environment

The first international student began at CIT in 1988.  This student was from Fiji and he enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering. Since then the international student population has grown substantially to approximately 1,500 students. CIT prides itself on offering an exciting and diverse multicultural environment with international students representing more than 86 different countries.

  • The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has the lowest trend unemployment rate in Australia at 3.8% compared to the national trend unemployment rate of 5.3%.*
  • The Council of Australian Governments' (COAG) Skills and Workforce Development 2010 report shows that the ACT proportion of Vocational Education and Training (VET) graduates employed after training was 88.7%, higher than the national average of 76.3%.
  • Finding employment is also made easier by a Canberra business venture called Skilled Futures, which aims to help international students to find paid and course-related employment while completing their studies. SkilledFutures will match international students with Canberra-based businesses who have expressed an interest in employing an international student on a part-time or casual basis. Canberra is one of the world's few planned cities, which adds to the ease of travelling around. Take a public bus, a taxi or a tour. You can be on the other side of Canberra in just forty minutes. Traffic flows are great with Canberra hardly ever suffering major traffic jams.

Canberra's public bus service, ACTION Buses, covers Canberra's major tourist sites and the suburbs. ACTION also provides buses to events such as major sporting events, Floriade and annual concerts. Tickets are available from bus drivers as you board the bus, or from any ACTION ticket agent.
